Ecotherm

After a building survey by the insurance company this client was required to address issues in certain areas.  Their heating process used hot oil.  The risk was any oil leaking at valves/flanges could be soaked up within the mineral fibre insulation which becomes a fire hazard.  There was also a lack of fire stopping at fire rated walls within a tank area containing highly inflammable liquids.

Problem –

To reduce the risk of fire, all insulation within one metre of valve/flanges had to be changed from mineral fibre to foam glass to prevent any oil build up from potential leaks at these points. Because of the quantity of valves and flanges within the plant room the complete insulation was changed to foam glass and metal clad.  We used fire batt and mastic at the penetrations within the fire walls..
